I'm pretty sure that if I had gone with NW Collision, instead of Caliber, I could have had a determination about my car a few days (instead of weeks) after the accident, and started moving on with my life. What's so upsetting is that this week I talked to another repair shop manager who told me that if I needed to I could bring my car in THAT DAY. Now, nearly a month after my accident, I am just starting the process of getting paid out on my car and finding a replacement. Finally, on Thursday the 7th, 24 days after the accident and two whole weeks after the repair inspection, Collision got USAA the info they needed to make the determination - that the car is totaled. This begins a tragicomical several day period in which I and my insurance company called Collision once or twice per day to tell them to upload the report, each time being told, «We're sorry, we're really busy, we'll get it done in a half hour and your insurance will have the info.» That happened, I am not even kidding, at least six times over a four-day period. This is now over three weeks since the accident happened, and ten days since the repair inspection. The response? We haven't heard anything from the auto shop.

Finally, on Monday the 4th I call my insurance to check in.

Next week comes around, and I was busy with work, and hadn't heard anything, so I figured USAA was trying to decide what to do with my car. I figured I'd wait until early next week and call USAA if I hadn't heard anything.

Pection report that day, and that USAA would take 2 or 3 days to determine whether to total or repair it.
